Boost for Marumo Gallants as Zimbabwe Keeper Washington Arubi returns for Carling Cup final
Marumo Gallants have been boosted by the return of Zimbabwean international goalkeeper Washington Arubi ahead of their Carling Cup final against Orlando Pirates.
In high-stake clash on Saturday at Peter Mokaba Stadium, Marumo Gallants and Pirates will battle it out for the covetous trophy.
However, the return of Arubi come as a huge boost for Gallants, who are seeking to triumph over Pirates to annex the title.
The Zimbabwean shot stopper missed his side’s 1-1 draw against Magesi FC in the South African Premiership last Sunday. Arubi’s zero action in the match was to avoid a forth booking which would have ruled him out on Saturday.
Arubi was parked out of the Magesi game because his contribution has been a pivotal one for Gallants and his experience will come in handy against the Sea Robbers.
His contribution to the team has been invaluable, considering his penalty kicks heroics in matches. He is one dependable goal-minder.
Arubi emerged as the hero in the semifinal clash against Golden Arrows, saving two crucial penalties to secure a 4-2 victory for Galant, ensuring qualification to the finals.
Despite being 40-years, the Zimbabwean has established himself as a key member of the Marumo Gallants squad. Considered as one of the experienced players, Arubi has played for several clubs including, SuperSport United, Tshakuma Tsha Madzivhandila, University of Pretoria and others.
