Osama Hassan: Mozambique imparts a football lesson to Egypt

Former Zamalek star, Osama Hassan, has remarked that Mozambique displayed an impressive performance today against the Egyptian national team in the first round of group stage matches at the current Africa Cup of Nations held in Ivory Coast.

Speaking on the “Sun Stadium” program with Magdy Abdelghany, Osama Hassan stated, “Mozambique’s national team delivered a significant lesson to Egypt and Vitoria today regarding ball possession and control.

The pace of the match was dictated by their condition.”

He added, “Mozambique’s team put Egypt in a genuine crisis, and their positioning against the Egyptian national team was excellent.

Hence, we faced considerable difficulties.”

Continuing his analysis, Hassan expressed, “Even the players that Vitoria brought on during the match did not bring anything new to the game.

Vitoria bears the responsibility.”

It’s noteworthy that the Egyptian national team secured a draw against Mozambique in the opening group stage match of the Africa Cup of Nations, with both teams scoring two goals each.

Osama Hassan’s commentary sheds light on the challenges faced by Egypt against a resilient Mozambique side.

The former Zamalek player highlights Mozambique’s effective strategies, particularly in terms of positioning and ball control, as factors that troubled the Egyptian team throughout the match.

As the Africa Cup of Nations progresses, Egypt will need to address the issues identified in their opening match, with Vitoria under scrutiny for tactical decisions and player selection.

The draw against Mozambique serves as a wake-up call for the Egyptian team as they prepare for the remaining group stage matches and beyond in their quest for continental glory.
