Journalists informed me about my sack – Former Zamalek coach Yannick Ferreira

Former Zamalek coach Yannick Ferreira says he only learned of his dismissal from journalists, claiming he was never officially informed by the club before news of his exit became public.

The Belgian parted ways with the Cairo giants last month following a poor run of results in the Egyptian Premier League.

His spell in charge lasted just four months, but speaking for the first time since leaving, Ferreira expressed disappointment with how his departure was handled.

“I learned of my departure from journalists, and therefore my departure from the club happened in a bad way. Some journalists informed me officially before the dismissal that I had been expelled from the club,” the coach said, as per Kooora.

“Despite journalists talking to me about the decision to leave, I went to training the next day and spoke to the players about the need to focus and address the mistakes, and no one told me anything.”

The former manager said attempts to seek clarity were met with silence until he managed to speak to a club official.

“I spoke with John Edward, the sporting director, to find out how true it was about my departure, but he was busy. I spoke with Abdul Rahman Ismail, the contracts manager, and he revealed the matter of my departure to me.”

Ferreira added that he has filed a complaint with FIFA over unpaid entitlements, insisting he had no intention of taking legal action initially, but felt disrespected.

“At first, I didn’t think about filing a complaint against Zamalek, but the club didn’t respect me and didn’t commit to paying my dues, so I resorted to FIFA to resolve the matter,” he added.

As earlier revealed by AfricaSoccer.com, Ferreira has officially taken the matter to the world governing body as he seeks compensation for the remainder of his contract.
