The renowned refereeing expert, Nasser Abbas, affirmed that the match between the Egyptian national team and Mozambique was relatively straightforward for the Mauritanian referee, Dahane Baida, who officiated the game.

The encounter concluded with a 2-2 draw between the Egyptian national team and Mozambique on Sunday evening at the Felix Houphouët-Boigny Stadium.

The match was part of the opening round of Group Two in the Africa Cup of Nations tournament.

In exclusive statements to “Al-Masry Al-Youm,” Nasser Abbas stated, “The match between Egypt and Mozambique was relatively easy for the referee, with no impactful refereeing incidents throughout the game, thanks to the players’ behavior, except for the last penalty kick.”

He added, “Egypt’s penalty kick was one hundred percent correct.

The referee’s positioning was incorrect, and this hindered his ability to see the ball accurately,” confirming, “VAR saved the referee after being summoned for the penalty kick.”

“The referee lost focus in the final minutes of the match, evident in the penalty kick situation,” he continued, noting, “The referee correctly calculated injury time, adding 7 minutes and considering the minutes the game stopped during the penalty kick.”

He concluded, “The referee scores 7.9 due to his incorrect positioning during the penalty kick.”
