Kalusha Bwalya, the former captain of Zambia and current president of the Federation, is optimistic that thousands of Zambian fans will travel to South Africa to support the national team, Chipolopolo, during the 29th African Cup of Nations. The tournament is scheduled to take place from January 19 to February 10, 2013. Zambia, being the defending champion, is seeded as African champions and will be placed in Group C of CAN 2013 in Nelspruit, accompanied by Nigeria, Ethiopia, and Burkina Faso. Bwalya is confident that the team can perform well, especially with the good quality of the playing field. He believes that up to 10,000 Zambian fans might attend the matches to support their team.
