Former Algeria first-choice goalkeeper Raïs M’Bolhi is seeking to end his spell with ES Mostaganem despite having existing contract.

The 39-year-old shot stopper joined the Algeria Ligue 1 outfit in August 2025, signing a contract that will keep him at the club until summer 2026.

After just three month spell, Raïs M’Bolhi has reportedly requested for contract termination with ES Mostaganem, coming as a shock to the club’s hierarchy and fans at large.

The club’s hierarchy are said to be in talks with M’Bolhi in an attempt to convince him rescind his decision. Meanwhile, the goalkeeper’s exclusion from the Algeria squad for 2025 Africa Cup of Nations appears to have weighed heavily on his morale, prompting the decision to sever ties with ES Mostaganem.

However, recruiting a new goalkeeper would then become an absolute priority during the next transfer window, in order to ensure the team’s stability for the remainder of the season.

Since joining the club, M’Bolhi has made six appearances in the Ligue 1 campaign, conceding four goals and keeping two clean sheets.

At the international level, the 57-year-old goalkeeper has made 96 appearances for the Algeria national team since his debut in 2010.
