UEFA CL: Moroccan striker Ayoub El Kaabi continues European scoring run with goal against Real Madrid

Ayoub El Kaabi strengthened his growing reputation in this season’s UEFA Champions League by scoring for Olympiakos against Real Madrid on Wednesday night, adding to his earlier strike against Barcelona on Matchday Three.

Playing at home in Piraeus, Olympiakos made an explosive start, taking the lead in the 8th minute through Chiquinho.

The early breakthrough energised the atmosphere inside the stadium, but Real Madrid responded with the control and efficiency expected of a side of their stature.

By the second half, the visitors had turned the match in their favour before Mehdi Taremi reignited Olympiakos’ hopes with a goal in the 52nd minute.

The match unfolded at a frantic pace, with Real Madrid extending their advantage to 4–2 as the hosts struggled to contain their attacking fluency.

Yet Olympiakos refused to fold, and in the 81st minute El Kaabi once again demonstrated his sharp instincts inside the box.

After a quick counter-attack, Gabriel Strefezza delivered an accurate cross that found El Kaabi perfectly placed.

The Moroccan striker rose confidently and directed a firm header past the goalkeeper to make it 4–3.

His goal set up a tense finale, but Olympiakos ultimately could not close the gap, leaving Real Madrid to claim the victory in what was one of the group’s more dynamic fixtures.

El Kaabi’s latest contribution adds to the goal he scored on 21 October against Barcelona, when he converted a 53rd-minute penalty — the only strike for his side in a heavy 6–1 defeat at the hands of the Spanish champions.

Despite the challenges Olympiakos have faced in the competition, the Moroccan forward has provided a consistent presence in attack, showing composure and precision when opportunities arise.

Scoring against both Barcelona and Real Madrid in a single group stage is an achievement few players experience, and El Kaabi’s performances underline his value to the Greek club during a demanding European campaign.

His movement, timing and ability to deliver in high-pressure moments have become standout features of Olympiakos’ attacking approach.

While the team’s results have varied, El Kaabi’s impact has remained steady — a reminder of his growing influence on the continental stage.

With one matchday left to play, he remains a key figure as Olympiakos look to end their Champions League run on a strong note.
