A FIFA-CAF delegation, at the end of its mission in Lomé, held a press conference to provide an interim assessment of their visit to the Togolese Football Federation (FTF). FIFA had provided assistance through the Financial Assistance Program (PAF) and Goal projects to the FTF a year ago with the aim of revitalizing football activities in Togo.
Cyril Loisel, head of the mission and head of development programs at FIFA, highlighted four essential points in FIFA’s recovery program. He noted improvement with the resumption of the D1 and D2 championships but emphasized that there is still much work to be done. Loisel expressed regret over the non-appointment of a National Technical Director, a crucial entity for the development of football in the country.
“The National Technical Directorate is essential. It is the structure that puts in place short or long term visions for the development of football. We reported this to the FTF BE (Executive Committee), and they promised to resolve the problem as quickly as possible,” added Loisel. The delegation also addressed issues related to women’s and youth championships during their visit.
During their stay, Prosper Abéga, a member of the FIFA Legal Commission and technical advisor to CAF, and Cyril Loisel met with political authorities and economic players to seek their support for the FTF.
