Pyramids FC forward Ramadan Sobhi detained in forgery case pending trial
Pyramids and Egypt national team star Ramadan Sobhi is currently detained as he awaits trial in a high-profile forgery case involving several others.
The Giza Criminal Court decided to extend his detention until the next hearing, scheduled for November 25, as the accusations are investigated further.
Sobhi is accused, alongside three others, of falsifying official documents tied to exams at the Pharaohs Higher Institute for Tourism and Hotels. The charges include forging attendance and exam records, creating false paperwork to suggest participation in exams and training courses, and submitting these for official recognition.
At the latest court session, held under tight security due to intense media and fan interest, Sobhi was brought into the dock, remaining calm while communicating with his defense. The prosecution insists the allegations are serious, claiming the group altered official records related to the school.
While Sobhi’s lawyers continue to deny all charges and point to procedural gaps, the case remains a hot topic in both sports and legal circles in Egypt. The next hearing is expected to bring more developments as the investigation unfolds.
