Dieumerci Mbokani, the Anderlecht striker, surprisingly did not play in the qualifying match for the 2014 World Cup between the Democratic Republic of Congo and Libya. The reason behind this absence was revealed by the Flemish daily Gazet Van Antwerpen, stating that Mbokani did not have a visa. His visa was reportedly not issued by the Libyan authorities in time for the match.
Mbokani supposedly received the green light for his visa only 24 hours before the match, making it impossible for him to travel to Tripoli on time. As a result, he missed the crucial qualifying game.
Despite this setback, the report mentions that Mbokani joined the Democratic Republic of Congo training camp and is expected to be available for the upcoming match against Cameroon on the following Sunday in Kinshasa.
