According to France Football, Algerian striker Islam Slimani is reportedly a serious target for Evian Thonon Gaillard. The Savoyard club sees Slimani as a potential ideal replacement for Tunisian player Saber Khlifa, who is expected to depart.
Slimani, who currently plays in Algeria with CR Bélouizdad, gained attention by scoring twice against Benin (1-3) in the 2014 World Cup qualifiers. He is currently the top scorer in the Africa World Cup qualifiers with 5 goals in 4 matches.
Expressing his desire to play in Europe if he decides to change clubs, Slimani has caught the eye of Algeria coach Vahid Halilhodzic. Despite not having the same qualities as renowned strikers like Falcao and Drogba, Halilhodzic is a fan of Slimani, stating, “Even if he does not have the same qualities as Falcao and Drogba, I finally want to say that those who criticized Slimani (during the CAN) realized today that he is capable of doing many beautiful things.”
