KENYA: THE NATIONAL TEAM SPENDS 6 HOURS AT THE AIRPORT TO FIND A BUS!

The Kenyan national football team, the Harambee Stars, encountered organizational problems while traveling to Malawi for the 2014 World Cup qualifiers. The team had to spend six hours at Lilongwe airport before finding transportation to their destination. The issue arose when the Kenyan officials refused to use the bus provided by their Malawian counterparts, and the Kenyan delegation had not arranged for their own means of transport.

The Malawi football federation, however, denies any responsibility in the matter. They claim that the Kenyan team had initially planned to travel via Ethiopian Airlines directly to Blantyre, where the match was scheduled to take place. The Kenyan delegation eventually arrived in Lilongwe, possibly by Kenyan Airways, even though there is no direct flight connection to Blantyre from there.

It’s worth noting that Kenya faced additional challenges as Denis Oliech was in conflict with his coach, Adel Amrouche, and would not be participating in the match. Moreover, Victor Wanyama would also be absent for Kenya in the game against Malawi. The situation highlights the complexities and challenges that national teams sometimes face during international travel and competitions.
