CAF ELECTION: ANOUMA AWAITS THE FIF

Jacques Anouma Attend La Fif

Jacques Anouma remains determined in his bid for the presidency of the Confederation of African Football (CAF). The former president of the Ivorian Football Federation (FIF) is currently awaiting approval from the current executive of the FIF to officially present his candidacy.

“I am waiting for the FIF to present my candidacy,” stated Jacques Anouma. However, time is of the essence as the November 10 deadline approaches for the submission of candidacies. Despite being the main challenger to Issa Hayatou in the upcoming CAF elective general assembly, Anouma has yet to secure sponsorship from the Ivorian Federation.

There have been speculations that Sidy Diallo, the president of the FIF, may be delaying the endorsement of Anouma’s candidacy to avoid potential complications with CAF and its referees during the CAN 2013 qualifiers. With the Elephants’ qualification secured since October 13, questions arise within Anouma’s camp about the reasons for the continued silence. Anouma is running out of time, needing to submit his candidacy by November 10, 2012, to enter the race for the CAF presidency and initiate his campaign.

In the event of further delays from Augustin Sidy Diallo, Jacques Anouma is not ruling out the possibility of being sponsored by another federation, as the regulations allow for such an alternative.
