Egyptian national team player, Mahmoud Hassan Trezeguet, is eyeing victory in the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Ivory Coast, 2023, aiming to compensate for the previous edition’s disappointment.
Egypt has not secured the AFCON title since 2010, having suffered defeat in the final against Senegal in the previous edition, decided by a penalty shootout.
The Egyptian national team is preparing for the tournament’s kickoff, facing Mozambique on Sunday in the opening match of the group stage.
Speaking to the English newspaper “The Independent,” Trezeguet stated, “Losing in the final is truly difficult, it’s a painful experience, but we will try once again to secure the title.”
He added, “We must earn what we deserve, and we hope luck is on our side this time, and may God bless us. It’s a tough group; it’s not an easy task.”
The Trabzonspor player continued, “All African teams are strong, and they have highly skilled players.
We will approach every match as if it were the final, and we’ll see how things unfold. We came here with the goal of winning a new title.”
Trezeguet concluded his statements by saying, “Since our arrival, the entire team has one goal only, which is winning the championship.”
