Jamaal Al-Alam, President of the Egyptian Football Union, expressed his satisfaction with Roy Vitoria, the coach of the Egyptian national team, refraining from making promises of winning the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.
The Egyptian national team is gearing up to face Mozambique on Sunday in the opening match of the group stage of the Africa Cup of Nations 2023.
Speaking on ON Time Sports 2, Al-Alam stated, “Salah, while addressing the players, felt the change and the significant support from the Football Union for the national teams.
This is attributed to the Union’s focus on the national teams, leaving the management of the league to the Clubs Association.”
“We explored ways for the players to easily communicate with their families in the Ivory Coast.
These may seem like small details, but they make a difference in clearing the minds of the players,” he continued.
Discussing Vitoria’s realistic approach, Al-Alam said, “Vitoria’s statements about not making promises to win the title were rational because the tournament features 24 teams, each striving for victory, including the Egyptian national team.
Vitoria will work towards winning the title.”
Al-Alam concluded, “The Football Union is on the verge of entering a phase of complete self-reliance by increasing its revenues through sponsorship contracts.”
He revealed, “In our first term, we reached a certain figure with the clothing sponsor, and after our departure, I found that we had contracted with another company for a lower amount with the obligation to purchase some clothing.
So, after the end of the contract, we held a new auction and informed all companies that we would start as we did in the first term.
The new contract does not obligate us to purchase any clothing; on the contrary, we will receive a percentage of sales and some bonuses linked to the team’s achievements.”
Emphasizing their plans, he added, “Before the last World Cup, we played against Belgium and won against them.
Therefore, I believe we should do well and reach advanced stages in the tournament, leading to the next World Cup.”
Egypt’s national team is placed in Group Two alongside Mozambique, Ghana, and Cape Verde.
