South Africa legend Lucas Radebe backs Bafana Bafana to secure AFCON 2025 title

South Africa legend Lucas Radebe is convinced Bafana Bafana can annex the upcoming 2025 Africa Cup of Nations title.

The Bafana Bafana, who secured bronze medal in the last edition are paired in Group B against record winners Egypt, Angola, and Zimbabwe at the continental showpiece scheduled to take place in Morocco between December 2025 and January 2026.

Ahead of the tournament, the former Leeds United has thrown his weight behind the Bafana Bafana to clinch the title.

“Egypt are not the same team anymore and we can overcome them. In fact, I believe we can go all the way and win it.”

Bafana play Zambia this Saturday in Gqeberha in a friendly international as preparatory game for the upcoming tournament.

Having finished third in the previous edition, the Bafana Bafana will be hoping to make a meaningful impact in the 35th edition.

South Africa will open their AFCON account against powerhouse, Egypt on December 26, 2025.

The 56-year-old made 72 appearances for the Bafana Bafana during his playing days, scoring two goals as a defender.
