Morocco’s U-17 national team is set to take on the United States in the Round of 32 at the Qatar World Cup on Friday, November 14.

The Atlas Cubs had a rocky start to the tournament, failing to find the net in their first two matches.

However, they made headlines with a sensational 16-0 thrashing of New Caledonia. Earlier in the group stage, Morocco suffered a 2-0 loss to Japan and a heavy 6-0 defeat against Portugal.

Other Round of 32 fixtures include Argentina against Mexico, Austria facing Tunisia, Italy clashing with Czechia, Brazil meeting Paraguay, and Senegal taking on Uganda.

In addition, Zambia will battle Mali, while South Africa goes up against Japan.

FIFA highlighted the achievements of Morocco’s coach Nabil Baha, who praised his squad for their record-setting performance despite an inconsistent start.

“You have to give the players credit. It’s important to make football history, whether with titles or with goals,” Baha said following the landmark victory. He described the win as “a huge source of pride” and reflected on the challenges of competing at a World Cup level.

Earlier this year, Morocco’s U-17 team captured the AFCON crown, defeating Mali 4-2 on penalties in the final.
