New Bafana Bafana midfielder Masindi Nemtajela expresses gratitude to Hugo Broos for opportunity
Orlando Pirates midfielder Masindi Nemtajela has reacted to his debut call-up to the Bafana Bafana.
The tireless midfielder is part of the squad named by Hugo Broos for the November international break.
For a player who was playing in the lower league a few years ago, the opportunity to play for South Africa at the senior national team level is a blessing and an honour.
Speaking on his call-up, Masindi Nemtajela has expressed his appreciation to Hugo Broos, recounting his journey.
“In my whole career I’m really grateful for what’s happening to me. I haven’t had an easy journey. I started at the Mahlobo games like you mentioned, playing on gravel.
“But then my things started to move very fast. Soon I found myself playing in the NFD, then the next season I’m in the PSL and then the second season I was signed by Pirates.
“Then after some months, maybe after six games my name is called to the national team. So I’m really grateful which means that the hard work I’m putting in at training is paying off today.
“I’m grateful for the opportunity that coach Hugo Broos has given us,” he said.
Now in the sights of the technical team, Masindi Nemtajela has vowed to work hard for a place in the Bafana Bafana squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
“And I’d also like to see myself fighting for the nation at the World Cup. So he [Hugo Broos] has given us an opportunity now it’s up to us to use the chance given to us,” the midfielder said.
Masindi Nemtajela is now in line for his official Bafana Bafana debut in the November international break when they take on Zambia in a friendly.
