Ten players report to camp as Nigeria intensify preparation for crucial World Cup playoff

The Super Eagles of Nigeria has intensify their preparation for the crucial 2026 World Cup playoff in Morocco this week.

Nigeria missed out on automatic World Cup qualification, and are set to participate in a playoff to determine their fate for the tournament to be staged in the USA, Canada and Mexico.

The playoff structure sees Nigeria face Gabon on November 13, while Cameroon takes on DR Congo. The winners will compete on November 16 for a spot in the intercontinental playoffs.

Al-Kholood defender and captain of the Super Eagles William Troost-Ekong, Brentford loanee Benjamin Fredrick, and Nantes star Chidozie Awaziem are the latest players to have reported to camp.

Currently, the three-time AFCON winners has ten players in camp, with the remaining eleven players expected to join camp on Monday before the game on Thursday.

Fulham trio Alex Iwobi, Calvin Bassey, and Samuel Chukwueze, along with Tolu Arokodare, Olakunle Olusegun, Wilfred Ndidi, and Moses Simon reported earlier for the upcoming game.

Players expected to join camp later on Monday are Stanley Nwabali, Maduka Okoye, Semi Ajayi, Bright Osayi-Samuel, Zaidu Sanusi, Ademola Lookman, and Victor Osimhen among others.
