The Mauritanian referee Dahane Bedda is set to officiate the highly anticipated match between Egypt and Mozambique in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, as reported by FilGoal.com.

The encounter between Egypt and Mozambique is scheduled to take place in Ivory Coast next Sunday, marking the commencement of their campaign in the prestigious tournament.

Dahane Bedda, a 32-year-old referee, has already overseen four continental matches this season, including the opening fixture of the African League between Al Ahly and Simba from Tanzania, which concluded with a 2-2 draw.

Additionally, Bedda officiated the clash between Modern Future and Singida from Tanzania, where the Egyptian team secured a convincing 4-1 victory.

In his role as a referee for Egyptian clubs, Bedda has managed a total of eight matches, resulting in three wins, three draws, and two defeats.

Previously, Bedda officiated a sole match for the Egyptian national team during the qualifiers for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, where they emerged victorious against Malawi with a resounding 4-0 scoreline.

Notably, Bedda has an extensive refereeing background, having officiated the final of the 2019 Africa U-17 Cup of Nations and the second leg of the previous edition of the CAF Confederation Cup.

Both Egypt and Mozambique find themselves in Group B, alongside Ghana and Cape Verde, promising fierce competition in the group stage of the Africa Cup of Nations.
