Hugo Broos names Bafana Bafana squad for crucial World Cup qualifiers against Lesotho and Nigeria

Bafana Bafana head coach Hugo Broos has announced his final 23-man squad to face Zambia in a friendly match during the November international break.

The fixture is scheduled for Saturday, November 15, at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium in Gqeberha, and forms part of South Africa’s preparations for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco this December.

Speaking at a press conference on Thursday, Hugo Broos confirmed that his side will play only one match during this international window due to a congested domestic schedule. However, he revealed that the team will have another friendly before travelling to Morocco for the AFCON.

The Belgian tactician explained that the South African Football Association (SAFA) opted for an African opponent to ensure the team’s preparations align with the challenges they will face in Morocco. He added that the friendly will also provide an opportunity to assess some fresh faces in the squad.

Among the new inclusions are Sekhukhune United forward Keletso Makgalwa, a nominee for the 2024/25 PSL Player of the Season award, and Orlando Pirates’ promising talent Masindi Nemtajela.
