Mohamed Awad guards Zamalek’s goal in crucial clash against Pyramids
As Zamalek takes on Pyramids in a high-stakes Egyptian Super Cup semifinal in Abu Dhabi, veteran goalkeeper Mohamed Awad will start in goal following Mohamed Sobhi’s absence due to injury.
Coach Ahmed Abdelraouf made the call to trust Awad’s experience at such a pivotal moment. “We face big challenges, but we are used to tough situations. Our goal is to return with the trophy,” Awad noted in a pre-match interview.
The Zamalek lineup features Awad, with defenders Ahmed Fattouh, Mahmoud Hamdi “El Wensh,” Mohamed Ismail, and Omar Gaber; midfielders Ahmed Rabie, Mohamed Shehata, Mahmoud Bantaiq, and Nasser Maher; while the attack is led by Amr Nasser and Oday Dabbagh. On the bench are several fresh faces ready to seize their Super Cup chances.
Awad recognized the gaps left by injured teammates, stating, “Any player who wears the Zamalek shirt must be ready for responsibility.” He offered encouraging words to newcomers, praising their potential impact and expressing faith in their ability to succeed: “We promise our fans a strong match and hope to celebrate together.”
