Al Hilal maintain pursuit of Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen

Nigerian superstar Victor Osimhen has taken the lead in the race for this season’s UEFA Champions League goal king after his superb hat-trick against Ajax on Wednesday night.

The Super Eagles striker scored three second-half goals tonight to lead Galatasaray to a massive win away from home.

Osimhen, who now has six goals in four UEFA Champions League matches this season, tops the goal king chart with one goal more than serial goal scorers Erling Haaland, Harry Kane, and Kylian Mbappe.

In the match against Ajax, the Nigerian opened the scoring in the 59th minute with a powerful header that left goalkeeper Remko Pasveer rooted to the spot.

He doubled his tally seven minutes later, coolly converting from the penalty spot after sending Pasveer the wrong way.

Osimhen completed his hat-trick in the 78th minute, showing great composure to slot another penalty into the right side of the net beyond the outstretched goalkeeper.

His dominant display not only secured all three points for the Turkish champions but also underlined his reputation as one of Europe’s most lethal strikers.

With the win, Galatasaray move to 9th in the standings and in a good position to advance to the knockout round.

Although early in this season’s UEFA Champions League, Osimhen is in a good standing to fight for the goal king award.
