‘He guarantee us points’ – Niko Kovac stresses important of Serhou Guirassy to Dortmund

Borussia Dortmund manager Niko Kovac has stressed the importance of Guinean striker Serhou Guirassy to his team.

Speaking in a post-match interview after his side defeated FC Augsburg on Friday, the coach said his team needs Guirassy because he is the one who can guarantee his side points.

“We knew what the situation would be like in Augsburg, so we knew it wouldn’t be a pretty game, but an intense one. Thanks to Serhou’s goal, we were only slightly better. Otherwise, it was a constant battle on both sides. We played 120 minutes against Eintracht on Tuesday.

“We need our striker, we need Serhou. He’s the one who can guarantee us points. The more he scores, the easier it is for us to win games. He hasn’t scored in recent weeks, which has made things more difficult for us. Today he scored the decisive goal. We didn’t concede a goal, and that’s good,” said Kovac

Serhou Guirassy has a strong start to the 2025/26 football season, but his form slumped last month.

Fortunately, he netted the winner against FC Augsburg on Friday and put up a top performance.

The Guinean striker currently has seven goals and three assists after making 13 appearances in all competitions.
