FIFA U17 Men’s World Cup: South Africa announce final squad for tournament in Qatar

South Africa’s U17 men’s national team, the Amajimbos, have confirmed their final squad for the upcoming FIFA U17 World Cup in Qatar amid reports of turbulent preparations.

The late squad announcement has been viewed as a reflection of off-field challenges during the buildup to the tournament.

Head coach Vela Khumalo’s side has been placed in Group A, where they will come up against hosts Qatar, Italy, and Bolivia.

Notably, none of these teams featured in the previous edition in 2023 and will now hope to make an impact.

This marks South Africa’s first appearance at the U17 World Cup since 2015 and their fourth qualification through the AFCON knockout stages.

South Africa will open their campaign at the tournament on Monday, November 3, before taking on Qatar on Thursday, November 6.

The Amajimbos will then wrap up their group stage campaign with a final match against Italy on Sunday, November 9.

Below is the South African squad for the tournament.
