The Egyptian national team at the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations in Cote d’Ivoire, the Mozambique national team’s head coach, Chiquinho Conde, made impactful remarks, as reported by the Mozambican newspaper “Al-Balad.”
Conde stated, “The Mambas (Mozambique) have the potential to defeat any opponent, and based on this, we will stand firm to attempt a surprise and change history against Egypt, making history in the Africa Cup of Nations finals.
Anything is possible!”
Further expressing his determination, Conde, the coach of the Mozambique national team, added, “The red carpet will not be rolled out for us, and we will fight with all we have to face the Pharaohs.”
Mozambique’s national team has faced Egypt on five occasions without securing a victory or even scoring.
These encounters took place in three Africa Cup of Nations editions in 1986, 1998, and 2010, where Egypt clinched the trophy in all three tournaments.
Additionally, there were two matches within the qualifying rounds for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.
Chiquinho Conde’s spirited comments add an extra layer of anticipation to the upcoming clash between Mozambique and Egypt, underscoring the determination of the Mozambican team to create an upset and leave an indelible mark on the history of the Africa Cup of Nations.
The coach’s confidence and acknowledgment of the challenges ahead set the stage for a compelling showdown between the Mambas and the Pharaohs in this prestigious continental competition.
