The second round of matches in the group stage of the third edition of the Egyptian Professional Football Clubs Association Cup is set to kick off next Monday.
With some teams vying for their inaugural title, the tournament serves as a chance to salvage the football season by securing qualification for the upcoming revamped edition of the local Super Cup.
Notably, both Al Ahly and Zamalek have opted out of participating in the Egyptian League Cup, reducing the competing teams to 16.
The 16 teams are divided into four groups, each eyeing the prestigious trophy.
A financial incentive has been announced by Amer Hussein, a member of the Egyptian Football Association board, with a reward of 1.5 million Egyptian pounds for the team crowned as the League Cup champion.
The runner-up will not go unrewarded, receiving a prize of one million Egyptian pounds.
The groupings for the League Cup are as follows:
Group One: Modern Future, Al Ittihad, Smouha, Baladiyat Al Mahalla.
Group Two: Pyramids, Pharco, Tala’ea Al Jaish, Zed.
Group Three: Ceramica, Enppi, Al Ismaily, Al Daqahliya.
Group Four: Al Masry, Al Mokawloon Al Arab, Al Ahli Bank, El Gouna.
The schedule for the matches has been strategically arranged, avoiding clashes with Egypt’s fixtures in the Africa Cup of Nations and capitalizing on the tournament’s rest periods.
As the competition intensifies, football enthusiasts eagerly anticipate the thrilling encounters that will unfold in the pursuit of glory in the Egyptian League Cup.
