The French newspaper “L’Équipe” has revealed that Moroccan international Naif Aguerd is among the considerations of Paris Saint-Germain officials to compensate for the recent injury to defender Milan Skriniar.
Skriniar, who recently underwent ankle surgery, is set to be sidelined for the remainder of the current season.
According to the same source, Paris Saint-Germain officials have already begun to narrow down the list of players likely to replace Skriniar during the winter transfer window, and Naif Aguerd, the defender for English club West Ham, is included in the list.
Naif Aguerd is currently in San Pedro, Côte d’Ivoire, with the Moroccan national team as they prepare for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations 2023, set to commence next Saturday.
The Moroccan national team is scheduled to play a preparatory match against Sierra Leone today, Thursday, as part of the final preparations before the continental event kicks off.
Morocco will start its AFCON journey in Group F, playing its first match against Tanzania on January 17, followed by a clash with the Democratic Republic of the Congo on January 21.
The group stage will conclude with a match against Zambia on January 24.
Aguerd’s potential move to Paris Saint-Germain adds a layer of intrigue to his current focus on the African tournament, as the defender remains a key asset for both his national team and his club career aspirations in the English Premier League.
