2025 FIFA U20 World Cup: Morocco’s Yassir Zabiri wins silver ball after heroics in final

Morocco’s remarkable run at the 2025 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Chile was further highlighted by individual accolades, as Yassir Zabiri claimed the prestigious adidas Silver Ball award.

Zabiri, who scored both goals in Morocco’s 2-0 victory over Argentina in the final, played a pivotal role in securing the nation’s first-ever U20 World Cup title.

His teammate, Othmane Maamma, was awarded the adidas Golden Ball as the tournament’s best player.

Maamma delivered consistently outstanding performances throughout the competition, joining an elite list of past winners including Diego Maradona, Lionel Messi, Sergio Aguero and Paul Pogba.

Argentina’s Milton Delgado completed the top three with the Bronze Ball.

In other major awards, USA’s Benjamin Cremaschi won the adidas Golden Boot after finishing as the tournament’s top scorer with five goals and more assists than his competitors.

Colombia’s Neyser Villareal took the Silver Boot while France’s Lucas Michal received the Bronze Boot. Argentina’s Santino Barbi earned the adidas Golden Glove after keeping four straight clean sheets to lead his team to the final.

The USA also claimed the Fair Play Award for their exemplary conduct throughout the tournament.

For Zabiri and Morocco, the World Cup triumph is reward for the country’s investments over the years and testament to the growth of football in the north African country.
