Egypt star Mohammed Salah’s goal drought continues as Liverpool fall to Manchester United
Egyptian international Mohammed Salah encountered a challenging match as Liverpool fell to Manchester United in the English Premier League on Sunday.
The former Chelsea winger started and lasted 85 minutes as the Reds succumbed to a 2-1 home defeat to their fierce rivals in matchday 8 of the Premier League clash held at Anfield.
Salah is now at the centre of discussion amid goal drought. The Egyptian star has now gone five consecutive matches without scoring a goal for Liverpool, with his last strike coming against Atletico Madrid in the Champions League on September 17.
The experienced winger’s performance in the ongoing campaign has been far from impressive, scoring just three goals and providing three assists in 11 appearances across competitions for Liverpool.
Salah failed to finish a game for the first time in ages, being subbed off for Frimpong in the 85th minute in the high-stake.
Manchester United opened the scoring after just two minutes into the game through Bryan Mbeumo after being set up by Amad Diallo. In the 78th-minute, Liverpool pulled parity through Cody Gakpo, assisted by Italian star Federico Chiesa.
However, Manchester United ensured they return to the Old Trafford with maximum points, with Harry Maguire netting the needed match-winner in the 84th-minute.
