Ali Gabr confident as Pyramids FC target CAF Super Cup glory

Pyramids FC captain Ali Gabr has expressed strong confidence ahead of the CAF Super Cup clash against RS Berkane this Saturday in Cairo.

The Egyptian defender believes his side has the strength, focus, and ambition to lift the continental trophy.

Speaking to Cafonline.com, Gabr shared his optimism about the team’s preparation and mentality.

He explained that the squad is training intensely and fully focused on securing their second continental crown.

“The players are in excellent physical condition and completely focused, despite the recent international break,” Gabr said.

“We have more than 14 internationals, and once everyone returned, we immediately shifted our full attention to this important match.”

He acknowledged the quality of their Moroccan opponents, describing RS Berkane as a side that combines experience and tactical discipline.

“We know RS Berkane is among the best clubs in Africa,” he added. “They play with structure and have strong experience at this level.

It will be a tough game, but our objective is clear — we want to win and celebrate another title for Pyramids.”

Pyramids FC lifted their first continental trophy earlier this year after a historic victory over South African giants Mamelodi Sundowns.

That success marked a milestone in the club’s rapid rise in African football and strengthened their belief heading into the Super Cup.

RS Berkane, meanwhile, bring their own pedigree to the contest. The Moroccan club lost the Super Cup to Al Ahly in 2021 but responded the following year by defeating Wydad AC to claim the title.

Their consistency on the continental stage makes them one of Africa’s most respected teams.

Despite acknowledging Berkane’s track record, Gabr insists that Pyramids FC remain determined to prove themselves once more.

“It will be a balanced match,” he said. “RS Berkane has experience and quality, but we are African champions.

Our ambition knows no limits, and our goal is to lift the Super Cup here in Cairo.”

The Egyptian side enters the encounter buoyed by strong domestic form and a deep sense of motivation.

For Gabr and his teammates, the opportunity to claim another continental honour in front of their home fans adds extra meaning to the occasion.

He emphasized unity within the squad as the key to success. “We trust one another,” Gabr noted.

“Our recent achievements came from hard work and belief. We want to continue writing history for Pyramids FC.”

The CAF Super Cup, which pits the CAF Champions League winners against the CAF Confederation Cup champions, remains one of Africa’s most prestigious club contests.

Saturday’s showdown in Cairo promises an intense battle between two ambitious sides eager to assert their dominance on the continental stage.

For Pyramids FC, this match represents more than just a trophy — it stands as a statement of intent.

Under Gabr’s leadership, the team aims to confirm its place among the elite of African football.
