Cameroonian football faces fresh turmoil as Indomitable Lions camp grows restless

Cameroon delivered an outstanding performance to secure victory over Mauritius in the penultimate 2026 World Cup qualifier.

In a high-stake clash on Wednesday afternoon, the Indomitable Lions traveled to face Mauritius at the National Sports Complex Pitch.

Putting on a stellar performance, Cameroon cruised to a 2-0 victory over their opponent to pile an intense pressure on leaders in Group D, Cape Verde.

The first half of the much-anticipated clash ended in a pulsating goalless draw, with both teams struggling to find the back of the net.

However, Marc Brys outfit prevailed in the second half of the match, securing a crucial away win over Mauritius.

Attacker Nicolas Ngamaleu shot Cameroon into the lead in the 57th-minute mark before Manchester United star Bryan Mbeumo scored in stoppage time to cemented victory for the Indomitable Lions.

With this win, Cameroon remain on course to secure qualification to the World Cup, depending on the outcome of the final round of games this weekend. Currently, Group D remains open following stalemate between Libya and Cape Verde.

Cape Verde sit top of Group D with 20 points, while Cameroon occupies second spot with 18 points, heading into the final round of games.
