Cameroonian by birth, naturalized, and holding a Gabonese passport, Charly Moussono has not yet obtained authorization to play for the Panthers. Aligned by Gabon against Niger, he had his team disqualified, which will not participate in the CAN.

– “I arrived in Gabon in 2005 to play for Franceville FC, which had just reached the first division. Once I obtained my naturalization, I was able to join the Espoir team and compete in CHAN 2011 in Sudan. Subsequently, I joined the Gabon flag team led at the time by Gernot Rohr. There were no doubts about my past as a player, even less about my origins. I had informed the Gabonese authorities of my past as a player and my Cameroonian nationality. After having played several official matches with Gabon, I am surprised to learn that FIFA has just sanctioned Gabon. I went to Fégafoot in June, and the general manager of the national team was at the Federation with my naturalization documents. He assured me that they would be sent to FIFA. To date, I cannot confirm or deny that the documents have been transmitted: I do not manage the administrative aspect, I am above all an athlete. I am distressed and hurt in my self-esteem by the way in which a certain press vilifies me by exposing me in the public square. I get called all kinds of names. I am neither a cheater nor a usurper, I have a clear conscience and I trust the Gabonese authorities to resolve this problem.
