Lamine Yamal suffers new pubis area discomfort; ruled out for three weeks
Spanish forward of Moroccan descent, Lamine Yamal, is set to sit on the sidelines for up to three weeks.
The 18-year-old will miss this weekend’s clash against Sevilla and is also expected to withdraw from Spain’s squad for the upcoming international fixtures.
Yamal had been included in Luis de la Fuente’s list announced on Friday, but Barcelona are unlikely to oppose his absence, preferring to give their prodigy time to recover fully.
According to Mundo Deportivo, Yamal has been experiencing recurring groin pain, the same issue that sidelined him for nearly three weeks during the last international break. The club is expected to manage his workload carefully to avoid further aggravating the problem.
This latest setback comes as a blow to both Barcelona and Spain, with the youngster already proving to be an integral part of their plans, despite his age.
Yamal will hope to return to action as soon as possible as he targets the 2026 Ballon d’Or.
