Former Mamelodi Sundowns star Siyanda Zwane opens up on criticism from fans after slow start to season
Former Mamelodi Sundowns defender Siyanda Zwane has opened up on criticism from the club fans after enduring a slow start to the season.
The Brazilians has come under intense pressure, with the supporters criticizing head coach Miguel Cardoso and the team’s output at large this season.
The Portuguese tactician secured the Premiership before losing the CAF Champions League final to Pyramids FC last season.
Sundowns have had a modest performance since the commencement of the Premier League campaign, drawing three and losing one game in the first 10 matches,.
“As Sundowns supporters, we have been spoilt,” Zwane told Soccer Laduma. “We know that the team is going to dominate when it plays and we know that the team is going to play a good brand of football. But currently, that is not happening.
“You can’t blame the fans for criticizing or complaining, but we should also consider that they did not get enough time to prepare like everybody else. But they need to keep winning because we expect Sundowns to dominate,” he added.
Mamelodi Sundown will travel to face Marumo Gallants in the Carling Knockout last 16 on Saturday at the Lucas Moripe Stadium.
