The new technical development center for Senegalese football, named “Centre Jules François Bocandé,” is set to be inaugurated this Thursday. Located in Toubab Dialaw, around thirty kilometers from Dakar, this facility, costing nearly 900 million FCFA, is financed as part of FIFA’s Goal 2 and 3 projects.
The center is equipped with training grounds and spaces reserved for national teams. It is intended to serve as a hub for national teams to regroup and prepare for various competitions. Me Senghor, the president of the Senegalese football federation, will receive the keys from FIFA representative Sampson Kablan during the inauguration.
Described as the new Senegalese “Claire Fontaine,” this center aims to promote the development of Senegalese football comprehensively. In addition to its sporting functions, there are plans to build a chain of hotels nearby to make the center more profitable.
The construction of the “Centre Jules François Bocandé” took seven years, starting in 2006, and is expected to become a key preparation and training hub for national teams in the African sub-region.
