It appears that Patrice Carteron has signed a two-year contract with the Congolese club Tout Puissant Mazembe, despite the sanctions imposed by his current employer, the Malian Football Federation (FEMAFOOT). The contract was signed in Lumumbashi, and Carteron’s tenure at the helm of TP Mazembe is set to begin in mid-June after his duties leading the Mali national team in the 2014 World Cup qualifiers.
This move means that Carteron is leaving the Mali bench less than a year after taking over from Alain Giresse. During his time with Mali, Carteron led the team to the third step of the podium at the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations (CAN).
At TP Mazembe, Carteron’s main objectives will be to make a strong impression in the CAF Cup this year and to qualify the Ravens for the next African Champions League. His experience and leadership will be put to the test as he takes charge of the prominent Congolese club.
