Matthieu Dossevi has recently found himself on the substitute bench for Valenciennes, not being selected by coach Daniel Sanchez for more than five matches. The Togolese striker, who was once a key player for the northern club, acknowledged the coach’s decisions but expressed some frustration.
Dossevi made a comeback in Valenciennes’ offensive lineup during the 37th-day match against Evian TG. In an interview with L’Equipe, the 25-year-old player admitted feeling a bit disheartened but understood the coach’s choices. Dossevi stated, “I have it a little bad. The coach (Daniel Sanchez) makes his choices, I have nothing to say about that. But if I played so many matches, it’s because I belonged to the executives. There, I have no explanation. I never had a clear starting position at VA. Being called into question for one or two matches seems normal to me. But without explanations, I find it a bit hard. We feel excluded and we have the balls.”
