Florentin Pogba Contemplates Ending His International Career with Guinea
Florentin Pogba may be considering stepping away from international football, according to Guinean journalist Alpha Baldé.
In a tweet, Baldé, founder of the website Centpourcentfoot, reported: “According to sources very close to the player, Florentin Pogba no longer wishes to join Syli. The player points the finger at the environment.”
This is not the first time Pogba has expressed frustration with Guinea’s national team setup. Ongoing crises in local football—which recently prompted FIFA to establish a normalization committee—and the instability surrounding the national squad have already caused several players, including Ibrahima Traoré of Borussia Mönchengladbach, to distance themselves.
Unlike his brother Paul Pogba, Florentin chose to represent Guinea, playing alongside his twin brother Mathias. He notably participated in the 2015 African Cup of Nations, though his tournament ended prematurely due to injury after the second group-stage match. Under former coach Luis Fernandez, who has since been dismissed, Florentin was promoted to captain, highlighting his leadership role within the team.
