Europa League: Moroccan forward Anass Zaroury’s hat-trick powers Panathinaikos past Young Boys
Moroccan youngster Anass Zaroury scored a sensational hat-trick on Thursday night, powering Panathinaikos to a 4-1 victory over Young Boys in the Europa League.
The Greek side got off to a flying start in Switzerland when Karol Swiderski finished off a Tete assist in the 10th minute to open the scoring. Just three minutes later, Zaroury announced himself by pouncing on a corner to double the advantage.
The Moroccan struck again in the 19th minute, reacting quickest to a loose ball in the box to slot home for his brace, putting Panathinaikos 3-0 up inside the first 20 minutes.
Young Boys pulled one back through Saidy Janko midway through the first half, but the hosts struggled to cope with Panathinaikos’ relentless attack.
Zaroury completed his hat-trick in the 69th minute with a composed finish from Giannis Kotsiras’ lofted cross, sealing a memorable night for both the player and his team.
The emphatic win gives Panathinaikos a perfect start to their Europa League campaign.
For Anass Zaroury, the top display is expected to boost his confidence heading into upcoming games.
