I am going through TOUGH times – Morocco star Achraf Hakimi opens up on ongoing legal ordeal
Paris Saint-Germain defender Achraf Hakimi has spoken candidly about the personal turmoil he has endured since being accused of sexual assault in March 2023.
The Moroccan international, 26, admitted the situation has deeply affected his private life, describing it as “a crisis I wouldn’t wish on anyone.”
“My inner circle has become so narrow that I no longer allow anyone into my life,” Hakimi told Canal Plus. “No one has ever hurt me like this. I’ve been through a very difficult situation, and it’s still ongoing.”
He also expressed concern for his young children, noting that while they are not yet old enough to read online reports, they will one day confront the accusations made against him.
Despite the weight of the case, Hakimi said he has found some solace in the progress of the investigation.
“We have made good progress thanks to the police work, and I now feel at peace. I hope the truth will come out soon,” he added.
The right-back warned that football stars often face attempts at exploitation and stressed the importance of having a trusted support system.
“If your inner circle isn’t strong, any player can be exposed to crises and difficult situations,” he said.
Hakimi was first accused by a woman who claimed he assaulted her at his home in late February 2023, during a period when he was absent from a PSG match.
French media have reported that, if convicted, he could face up to 15 years in prison.
