Zamalek focuses on Nabil Emad Donga’s recovery ahead of Al Ahly clash
Zamalek fans were left holding their breath after midfielder Nabil Emad Donga picked up an injury during the club’s 1-1 draw with El Gouna in the Egyptian Premier League.
The setback comes just before the highly anticipated derby against rivals Al Ahly, adding tension to the team’s preparations.
In the 80th minute, Dunga went down following a challenge and was unable to continue. Coach Yannick Ferreira quickly replaced him to avoid aggravating the problem. The medical team later confirmed that the midfielder suffered a bruised rib and will undergo more tests to determine the severity.
“The player is scheduled to undergo further medical tests in the coming hours to determine the extent of the injury,” the medical staff stated. They also assured fans that he will follow an intensive treatment program tailored to his recovery needs.
Dunga’s influence in midfield has been vital, and his availability could shape the outcome of Monday’s showdown. Despite the draw, Zamalek remains top of the table with 17 points, but their focus now is firmly on getting their key man back in shape.
