Ivory Coast is set to play two matches in June as part of the qualifiers for the 2014 Brazil World Cup against Tanzania and Gambia. Coach Sabri Lamouchi surprised many by not including Didier Drogba, Kolo Touré, and Emmanuel Eboué in the squad. Lamouchi explained that there was mutual agreement with the players and emphasized the logic of looking for the most competitive team with a focus on balance. As a result, some players will celebrate their first selection, including Aurier Serge and Bolly Mathis.
