Nicolas Jackson’s agent brands Senegal striker’s Bayern transfer ‘most complicated’
Senegal international Nicolas Jackson’s summer switch from Chelsea to Bayern Munich has been described by his agent as “the most complicated” transfer he has ever handled, admitting that for a time he feared the deal would fall through.
The 24-year-old striker sealed a dramatic deadline-day move to the German champions despite Chelsea attempting to pull him back at the last minute following an injury crisis.
The London club had lost Liam Delap to a long-term setback in their 2-0 Premier League victory over Fulham and instructed Jackson to return, but Bayern pushed through the transfer before the window shut.
Jackson has already made his debut for the Bavarians, coming on for the final minute of their 3-1 Champions League win over Chelsea on Wednesday, September 17.
Speaking to RMC Sport, Jackson’s agent Ali Barat lifted the lid on the tense negotiations that nearly derailed the move.
“You know, football is really unpredictable. These things happen all the time. I would say the most important thing is to stay calm, not to get too emotional,” Barat explained.
“There are always unexpected parameters. For Nico, the key was always his will. He wanted Bayern, and our role was to protect that wish and make sure it was respected, even if obstacles arose along the way. Did I think it would collapse? Yes, for a short while I doubted it.”
Bayern, meanwhile, have turned to the Senegalese forward to bolster their attacking options as they pursue another Bundesliga title and Champions League success.
