Al Ahly members have shown their unity and commitment by approving amendments to the club’s internal regulations in a well-attended general assembly.
The gathering reflected the passion supporters hold for the Cairo giants, who see the club’s governance as an important part of its legacy and future.
Counselor Mohamed Abu Deif, head of the judicial committee overseeing the assembly, confirmed the official approval of the amendments, which followed changes in Egypt’s sports law. He revealed that 9,329 members attended, with 8,937 valid votes and 392 deemed invalid.
From the valid ballots, 8,308 members supported the proposed amendments, while 629 voted for additional clauses. The overwhelming support was viewed as a show of confidence in the club’s direction.
The administrative body is expected to formally approve the results today. Meanwhile, Al Ahly’s board of directors, led by president Mahmoud El-Khatib, will meet to set a date for the upcoming elections.
El-Khatib, who previously stated he would not contest, is now widely expected to reconsider his decision, raising anticipation about the next phase of leadership at the club.
