Gambian forward Abdoulie Ceesay set to miss Stuttgart clash as recovery continues
Abdoulie Ceesay’s return to the FC St. Pauli lineup will take a little longer.
The Gambian forward, who has been sidelined with a cut on his foot, has not been cleared to feature in Friday night’s game against VfB Stuttgart.
Head coach Alexander Blessin confirmed at his press conference that Abdoulie Ceesay’s training rhythm has not been enough to make him match ready.
“Two sessions are simply not enough for me,” he explained on Wednesday, making it clear that the striker’s workload has not yet compensated for more than three weeks of absence. Blessin added that Ceesay will join another training session on Thursday, but insisted the situation remains unchanged for the Stuttgart clash.
Coach Alexander Blessin hit a hopeful note about the near future. “If nothing happens by next week, he’ll be back in the squad,” Blessin said, pointing to the upcoming home game against Bayer Leverkusen on September 27.
