Houssem Aouar celebrates first award with Al-Ittihad after standout goal
Houssem Aouar found a reason to smile despite a difficult night for Al-Ittihad supporters.
The Algerian midfielder earned his very first individual award with the Saudi giants after being recognized for scoring the best goal of the second round in the Saudi Professional League.
Earlier in the evening, Al-Ittihad suffered a painful 2-1 defeat against Al-Wahda of the UAE in the AFC Champions League Elite. Fans left disappointed, but news of Aouar’s achievement soon brought a brighter note for the player.
Aouar’s award-winning strike came in the league clash against Al-Fateh, a match Al-Ittihad won 4-2. In the 22nd minute, he picked up the ball in midfield, dribbled past a defender, and calmly slotted it past Spanish goalkeeper Fernando Pacheco. The moment showcased both his skill and composure.
His effort was chosen ahead of fine goals from Gambian forward Musa Barrow of Al Taawoun and Belgian winger Yannick Carrasco of Al Shabab.
It marks the first personal honor for Aouar since joining Al-Ittihad, and fans will hope it sparks more special moments this season.
