Khaled El-Darandaly, the Vice President of the Egyptian Football Association, revealed the potential extension of the winter registration period until next February.
Speaking on ON Sport FM, El-Darandaly stated, “In a preparatory match like the one we played against Tanzania, every player hesitates to give their best and fears injury ahead of the tournament.
However, in Ivory Coast, the performance will be different.”
He continued, emphasizing Mohamed Salah’s significant role in uniting the players, calling him the ideal team captain. ”
All the injuries the players are currently dealing with are minor.
If there is any doubt about a player’s ability to participate in the tournament, they will not be selected.”
El-Darandaly stressed that Mohamed and Ahmed El-Shenawy have not fully trained with the team, but the medical staff does not want to pressure them.
“The rewards are very good according to the regulations we have set.
We took the opinions of Mohamed Salah, Mohamed El-Neny, El-Shenawy, and all the senior players, and they agreed to the terms, which were approved by the board,” he added.
“We do not focus on who leads the mission; each of us represents the union and can perform that role.
What happened is that I am the head of the mission initially, but Gamal Allam will be present for a period and then return to Cairo.”
El-Darandaly concluded, “It is likely that the registration period will be extended until February due to the conditions of the Africa Cup of Nations and the absence of some players.”
El-Darandaly is preparing to travel with the Egyptian national team delegation as the head of the mission, heading to participate in the Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast.
