Pyramids FC coach Krunoslav Jurcic praises Auckland City fight and respects Al Ahly Jeddah challenge
Pyramids FC coach Krunoslav Jurcic walked away from Sunday night’s Intercontinental Cup opener with pride, not only in his team’s victory but also in the spirited contest offered by their rivals.
His side beat New Zealand’s Auckland City 3-0 at the Air Defense Stadium, booking momentum for the journey ahead.
In his post-match reflections, Jurcic admitted he was surprised by the approach of the New Zealanders. He expected Auckland to press forward, but instead they chose to defend deep. That tactical choice, however, did not stop Pyramids from taking control of the game. The Egyptian side pressed hard, scored three times, and could have had even more if they had converted all their chances.
Jurcic quickly shifted his attention to the next challenge, a September 23 clash with Saudi Arabia’s Al Ahly Jeddah. He acknowledged the quality of their players and the history they have written on European pitches.
“We must prepare well for the match against Al-Ahly Saudi Arabia. Our goal is to qualify and deliver an enjoyable performance,” Jurcic said.
