France international of Mali descent Ibrahima Konaté is bent on leaving Liverpool at the expiration of his contract after turning down another contract offer from the club.

Konaté’s current contract with the Premier League giants runs until summer 2026, with the in-demand defender yet to sign a deal with the Reds.

According to reports, the 26-year-old centre-back has rejected a third contract extension offer from Liverpool in recent weeks as he pushes for a move away from the club.

Meanwhile, the Premier League champions are eager to avoid losing the France international defender on a free transfer at the end of his current contract.

However, the Merseyside outfit are becoming resigned to losing the defender to Real Madrid. In a similar fashion to just a couple of months ago, when Trent Alexander-Arnold left his boyhood club to move to the Spanish giants, Liverpool are beginning to believe that Konaté is set to join Real Madrid on a free transfer.

The rock-solid defender joined Liverpool in July 2021 from German outfit RB Leipzig and has since established himself as a key member of the team.

This season, Konate has featured in all three matches in the 2025/26 Premier League campaign despite dragging his feet to sign a new deal.
